CONTRACTS
Contract Review & Drafting · Legacy · Wealth · Protection
The contract you sign today
determines the fight you have tomorrow.

Most people do not lose in court. They lose at the contract table, months or sometimes years before any dispute begins. Whether you are about to sign someone else's agreement or drafting your own, we make sure the document protects what matters: your income, your intellectual property, your business, and your peace of mind.

The Risk No One Talks About

A bad contract is not a legal problem. It is a business problem.

Every contract is drafted to protect the person who wrote it. If you signed something without representation, you may have already given up more than you realize. Here is what we see most often.

Risk 01
Hidden Indemnity Clauses
Buried in the back of most contracts is language that makes you responsible for the other party's legal costs, even when they are at fault. One signature, and you have agreed to pay for problems you did not cause.
Risk 02
IP Assignment You Did Not Notice
Many agreements transfer intellectual property rights as a default term. Work product, ideas, contributions, even your own name and likeness can become the other party's property without you realizing the deal included that.
Risk 03
Vague Termination Terms
A contract that does not clearly define how it ends, what triggers termination, and what survives termination is a contract that traps you. Vague exit terms favor the party that drafted them, never the other side.
Risk 04
"In Perpetuity" Provisions
License grants, name and likeness usage, and content rights are often granted in perpetuity (forever) in standard contracts. Sign once, and the other party owns the right to that grant for the rest of your life.

Wondering if any of these risks are in a contract you are about to sign? A Strategy Session is where we find out.

Built for Anyone Who Signs

Six situations where this matters most.

Contracts touch every part of business and life. If you recognize yourself in any of these, you are exactly who this service is built for.

01
Founders & Business Owners
Partnership agreements, vendor contracts, client agreements, employment offers. Every contract you sign or send sets a precedent. We make sure those precedents protect the business you are building.
02
Creators & Content Professionals
Brand collaborations, platform agreements, licensing deals, talent representation. Your name and work are your assets. We make sure your contracts treat them that way.
03
Consultants & Service Professionals
Client engagement letters, scope of work documents, retainer agreements, independent contractor terms. The right contract clarifies scope, defines payment, and protects you from disputes later.
04
Agencies & Production Companies
Client master service agreements, freelance contractor terms, work-for-hire agreements, releases. Multi-party contracts and creative work require careful structuring to protect everyone involved.
05
Anyone Presented With a Contract
A landlord agreement. A vendor contract. A separation agreement. A loan document. If someone has put a binding agreement in front of you, you should know what you are signing before you sign it.
06
Anyone Drafting an Agreement
If you are the one presenting the contract, it should be built around your business model, your operational reality, and your protection. Templates create risk. Custom drafting creates leverage.

Not sure which category you are in or what kind of help you need? That is exactly what a Strategy Session is for.

REDLINE
What Contract Review Actually Means

We do not skim. We go line by line.

A contract review at SLG is not a quick scan and a thumbs up. It is a detailed legal analysis of every provision, with the goal of giving you specific, defensible language you can use to negotiate or walk away from a position of knowledge.

  • Line-by-Line Redline Every clause reviewed and marked with suggested revisions, plain-language explanations, and rationale. You see exactly what we changed and why.
  • Risk Identification Memo We flag indemnity exposures, IP assignment language, termination traps, "in perpetuity" provisions, and any other clauses that create disproportionate risk for your side of the deal.
  • Revised Contract Language You receive edited terms ready to present to the other party. This is not a list of suggestions. This is contract-ready language you can put directly into negotiation.
  • One Round of Revisions After your initial review, we adjust the redline based on your feedback and any counterproposals from the other party, included within scope.
  • Thirty-Minute Strategy Call A focused call with Attorney Stokes to walk through findings, discuss negotiation strategy, and decide on next steps. This is separate from the initial $500 Strategy Session.

The First Step

Start with a Strategy Session.

Before any engagement, every client starts here. One hour. One focused conversation. You leave with clarity on what you have, what is at risk, and which engagement tier fits your situation. This is the diagnostic that gets you to the right next step.

What we cover in your hour together

This is a diagnostic session, not a contract review. We assess your situation, identify the risks, and recommend the right engagement structure for what you actually need. If you have a contract on the table, we will look at it together at a high level and flag concerns, but the line-by-line redline and revised language work happens under a separate engagement. The Strategy Session is how we figure out what that engagement should be.

  • Diagnostic of your contract position and exposure
  • High-level look at any document you are considering, with red-flag identification
  • Clear recommendation on which engagement tier fits your situation
  • Direction on whether Contract Review, Custom Drafting, or another SLG service is right
  • A written summary of our conversation sent within 48 hours
  • Confidential and protected by attorney-client privilege

Common Questions

What clients actually ask.

How long does a contract review take?+
Standard turnaround is five to seven business days from receipt of the contract and signed engagement agreement. Rush review (within two business days) is available with a +25% rush fee, or $500 minimum, whichever is greater. We recommend engaging us as early as possible to avoid rush fees and to give negotiation room.
What is the difference between Contract Review and a Strategy Session?+
A Strategy Session is a $500 sixty-minute diagnostic. We look at your situation, identify risks at a high level, and recommend the right engagement. A Contract Review is the full deliverable: line-by-line redline, risk memo, revised language ready for negotiation. The Strategy Session is the gateway. The Contract Review is the work. The $500 credits toward the Review if you engage within 14 days.
What types of contracts do you review and draft?+
Service agreements, partnership agreements, vendor and client master service agreements, NDAs, independent contractor and work-for-hire agreements, licensing agreements, brand collaboration and creator agreements, talent representation agreements, equity and revenue share agreements, settlement agreements, and other business-related contracts. We do not handle real estate purchase contracts, family law agreements, or contracts requiring local counsel outside Florida unless specifically scoped.
Can you negotiate with the other party on my behalf?+
Yes, negotiation representation is available as an add-on engagement, typically $3,500 to $5,000 depending on complexity. Many clients choose to handle negotiation themselves using the redlined language and risk memo we provide. Others prefer that we engage directly with opposing counsel. We will recommend the right approach during the Strategy Session.
What if my contract is more than 20 pages?+
Contracts 21 pages and longer are reviewed at the $4,000 tier, which includes expanded analysis to account for the additional complexity. If a contract is exceptionally long or multi-document (e.g., master service agreement plus statement of work plus exhibits), we may scope a custom fee during the Strategy Session.
Do you draft contracts I can use over and over?+
Yes. Custom drafting often includes templated agreements you can use repeatedly (client engagement agreements, NDA templates, independent contractor agreements) with placeholder fields for customization per deal. We will discuss this in the Strategy Session and scope the drafting engagement to either a one-time agreement or a reusable template.
I am being asked to sign a contract today. Can you help?+
Maybe. Rush review is available, but a same-day turnaround is rarely realistic and often signals that the other party is creating false urgency to pressure a signature. Our first recommendation is to push back on the timeline. If you have an actual emergency, we will discuss feasibility and rush fees in the Strategy Session. Note: we do not take on same-day engagements that compromise our standard of work product.
What if I already signed something I should not have?+
Bring it to the Strategy Session. We will assess whether the contract has enforceability issues, whether amendment or renegotiation is possible, and whether the situation requires our Pre-Litigation Resolution Package. Not every bad contract is a lost cause, but the earlier we look at it, the more options you have.
